XPdent Corporation Presentation on Dental Attachments
On September 26, 2007, Dennis J. Fraioli, executive vice president, and Charlie Rivas, technical education coordinator, of XPdent Corporation were on campus to present a lecture on dental attachments and other appliances to more than 45 Department of Restorative Dentistry students and faculty. XPdent, an American company that represents European manufacturers in the U.S. and South America, provides high quality dental products and training for dental laboratories in new and advanced technologies.
In a detailed presentation that included a PowerPoint presentation with digital pictures that related specific products to specific applications, Rivas described the various types of and uses for dental attachments. Attachments are devices that allow various dental prostheses to be connected to one another and to natural structures to gain support, stability, longevity and numerous other functional and biomechanical advantages. They can be used for removable partial dentures, overdentures, segmented bridges and implants.
“Both students and faculty gained valuable insights into a complicated area of dental laboratory technology,” says Department of Restorative Dentistry Professor Renata Budny. “Both the College and department are grateful to XPdent Corporation and its representatives for continued support in enhancing the quality of education and training offered our students.”
