Gamma Epsilon Tau Gold Key Awards Dinner

Gamma Epsilon Tau Gold Key Awards Dinner

The City Tech chapter of Gamma Epsilon Tau, the international graphic arts honor society, presented Gold Key Awards to, from left holding plaques, Thomas Saggiomo, president of AGFA North America, and Hoag Levins, executive producer of AdAge.com, at its annual dinner in early June at Club 101 in Manhattan. Both recipients have been long-term supporters of graphic arts education programs, which include the Department of Advertising Design & Graphic Arts (ADGA) at City Tech, the largest learning center of its kind in New York City.

Scores of alumni and industry friends of the ADGA program joined with current students, faculty and administrators in honoring Saggiomo for outstanding leadership as chairman of NPES, a trade association of more than 400 companies that manufacture and distribute equipment, systems, software and supplies used in printing and publishing. Levins was honored for his efforts to encourage greater diversity in the hiring practices of New York City advertising agencies. Dinner speakers included City Tech President Russell K. Hotzler, ADGA Chair Joel Mason, ADGA Graphic Arts Program Director Lloyd Carr, and program Professors Don Carli and Annette Wolf Benson.

Saggiomo is a 1970 graduate of Voorhees Technical Institute, a trade school later absorbed by City Tech, and Levins is no stranger to the College. He visited campus in November 2005 to present an ADGA Seminar Series guest lecture on “Understanding the New Realities of the Advertising Business: A Beginner's Guide to a Wildly Changing Industry.”
