March Brings Flurry of Activities for Restorative Dentistry Students and Faculty

The weeks preceding spring break brought a flurry of special activities for Department of Restorative Dentistry students and faculty. Early in the month, GC Company District Manager Tom Degnan visited the department and gave a demonstration of various GC products, including pattern resins, acrylic resins and patty materials, to more than 40 students. He also demonstrated the use of tissue-colored composite resin material to departmental faculty.

The Greater New York CDT Study Group hosted a dental clinic presentation mid-month by Dr. Vincent Celenza, DMD, who discussed the importance of dentists and lab technicians working as a team. The presentation was well attended by restorative dentistry department students and faculty as well as lab owners and lab technicians who are members of the study group.

On the last day of the month, Professor Renata Budny, in cooperation with Vincent V. Alleluia, chair of the American Society of Master Dental Technologists (ASMDT), coordinated a visit for City Tech restorative dentistry students and faculty to observe one of New York University’s MDT Seminars. ASMDT, the sponsor of NYU MDT series, is a professional society established to raise the educational standards of dental technologists nationwide. NYU MDT seminars take dental technology to an advanced level of learning and appreciation for complex dental problems.

The Department of Restorative Dentistry appreciates the many significant contributions that GC Company, The Greater New York CDT Study Group, ASMDT’s NYU MDT Seminars and its other good friends and supporters are making to the education of City Tech students.
