Lukeman Chemistry Club Presentation Looks at DNA Nanotechnology
Dr. Philip S. Lukeman, center, clinical assistant professor of chemistry at New York University, was on campus on February 22 to talk with members of the City Tech Chemistry Club about his extensive research and other work in DNA nanotechnology, which enables the construction of objects, lattices and devices at the nanoscale. He is shown here with Professors Tony Nicholas, right, and Suresh Tewani, Chemistry Club faculty advisor.
Dr. Lukeman earned his BS in chemistry at the University of Leicester, UK, in 1994 and his PhD in chemistry with Dr. Jeremy Sanders at Cambridge University, UK, in 1999. At NYU, his work with Nadrian Seeman has included expanding the substrates available to nucleic acid-based nanotechnology with potential applications in nanoelectronics and materials synthesis. He has won several awards for teaching, mentoring and research.
