City Tech Veteran Students at 2006 Veterans Day Parade
New York City College of Technology (City Tech) Student Veterans Club President Moises Murillo, left, and club members John Maldonado and Binod Gurung were among the 20,000 former armed forces personnel to proudly take part in the 2006 Veterans Day Parade up New York City’s Fifth Avenue on November 11. They are shown here after affixing the club banner to the City University of New York float, which carried student veterans from City Tech, Brooklyn College, Borough of Manhattan Community College and York College as well as several CUNY officials the full length of the parade route from 23rd to 59th Streets in Manhattan. The parade was first held in 1929 and commences with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Eternal Flame in Madison Square Park. Proud to have served their country, Murillo, Maldonado and Gurung are proud as well of the role their club is playing in City Tech’s recently launched Project WIN, designed to promote the academic success of the increasing number of veterans enrolling at the College.
