Plotkin Collages Inspire New Juilliard Ensemble Performance of David Glaser Composition at Alice Tully Hall
Pictured here are three of a series of eight collages by New York City College of Technology Adjunct Assistant Professor Linda Plotkin, advertising design and graphic arts. Plotkin’s work inspired a composition for chamber orchestra entitled “Apparitions” by award-winning composer David Glaser. The New Juilliard Ensemble will perform the piece at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall on November 16 at 8:00 p.m. The concert is free, and tickets will be available at the Alice Tully Hall box office beginning November 2.
The world premiere of “Apparitions,” performed in 2005 by the Peconic Chamber Orchestra, was accompanied by the projection of the eight Plotkin collages behind the musicians as the movements progressed. The images will not appear in the Alice Tully Hall performance, but can be seen on her website at www.lindaplotkin.com.
