New 12-Week Daily News Series to Help City Tech and Other Students Meet College Costs
A three-month series of advice-packed Daily News columns will offer numerous sources of assistance available to help students pay for a college education. Written by George Chin, director of financial aid for The City University of New York (CUNY) and a nationally known expert on student aid, the columns will appear every Monday for 12 weeks in a new personal finance section the Daily News is launching on January 22, 2007.
Chin’s columns will answer frequently asked questions about paying for college expenses; guide students through the alphabet soup of unfamiliar abbreviations like FAFSA, SAR and TAP; describe programs like the Peter F. Vallone Scholarships for New York City public and private high school graduates with a "B" average or better; and lead them step by step through the application process.
City Tech is pleased to help inform current and prospective students and their families about this invaluable public service developed by CUNY in partnership with the Daily News. More information about financial aid opportunities is available at a special CUNY website: www.cuny.edu/collegecosts. Counselors may be reached at 1-800-CUNY-YES.
