Richar Lopez Again Named to CUNYAC All-Star Team
For the second straight season, New York City College of Technology junior forward Richar Lopez was named to the CUNY Athletic Conference All-Star team by the league coaches. The post-season soccer awards were announced by CUNY late last week and are available online at: http://www.cunyathletics.com/sport.asp?path=msoccer.
Lopez, who originally attended The City College of New York and played one season there, transferred to City Tech prior to the fall 2005 semester. For the 2005 season, the 5’5” speedy forward led the Yellow Jackets with seven goals and one assist for a team- high 15 points, and was named a CUNY Second Team All-Star as the team went 3-9-1 overall. This past season, the team struggled to a 1-12-2 record, but Lopez was a bright spot again with five goals (and two assists) for a team-high 12 points. Again, he was named to the CUNY Second Team for his achievements.
“In my two seasons here, Richar has been our most dangerous player for opponents to guard,” said head coach Emeka Ezeugo. “He takes advantage of opportunities on the field with his speed and experience. I am sure he’s going to have an even stronger senior season next year.”
