City Tech Sophomore Forward Ryan Phillip Takes CUNYAC and ECAC Honors

The City Tech men’s basketball team got back to a 2-2 in the CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) with wins over Brooklyn College and Medgar Evers College.by riding a two-game winning streak following the holiday break. Sophomore forward Ryan Phillip, a new addition to the team playing his first two games, had a twenty-twenty game against the Medgar Evers Cougars with 20 points and 20 rebounds, following a 23-point performance against the Brooklyn Bridges two days earlier. For his 21.5 point, 14.0 rebound average, he was named CUNYAC Player of the Week. In addition, he Also was selected as the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Metro Player of the Week, as the best player in the NYC Metropolitan Area the week of January 1-7.
“I knew Ryan was capable of making a huge impact,” said second-year head coach Otis Fenn. “But the bottom line is that he went out and did it versus CUNY teams. And because of Ryan, it opens up the opportunities for our other players to succeed.”
