Special Award Winners 2005/2006
Next, three special awards were presented to people who went above and beyond the call of duty this year in assisting the mission and goals of the Athletics Department. The Student-Athlete Support Award went to Otis Saylee, who not only played on two teams this year, but also served as a student-manager on two others. The Ray Amalbert Service Award went to City Tech graduate Alberto Vargas of the College's Office of Image/Visual Communications. Mr. Vargas is a longtime supporter of the College's athletic programs and the audience enjoyed a viewing of his commemorative 2004/2005 Basketball Championship video. The Yellow Jacket Service Award, usually conferred on an individual, was presented this year to all members of the 2005/2006 Women's Basketball team for their outstanding effort and contributions both on and off the court. For example, one week after the basketball season ended, the team switched uniforms and played softball for City Tech, producing the College's best softball season ever.
