This summer, City Tech and the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge launched a comprehensive new management training internship program for hospitality management students. The collaboration includes training in the management of dining services, culinary and pastry arts, catering and events management, sales and marketing and guest services, and was initiated by Marriott Human Resources Director Marlene Ortiz and Hospitality Management Professor Gerald Van Loon.

"We are delighted with the collaboration," said Brooklyn Marriott General Manager Sam Imbrahim, "and the opportunity it provides for City Tech hospitality management students to learn the practical applications of their hotel and restaurant management studies." Imbrahim is also a member of the Department of Hospitality Management's Academic Advisory Commission.

Students apply for the management training internship during their junior and senior years. Successful candidates are selected by a faculty committee based on their academic achievement and an essay on their professional interests and goals. Twelve students -- Stephanie Brown, Michelle Chan, Sharon Griffith, Bonzena Gut, Marina Kaykova, Roxanne Liburd, Alejandro Lopez, Alexandra Nyashina, Tahreem Pasha, Cynthia Rodriquez, Carla Yaniris-Perez and Taras Yurkiv -- were selected to participate this year.
