We knew he was the president of all of the Borough of Brooklyn. But does that include ghouls and vampires? Apparently so!

On October 31, the City Tech entertainment technology department and Theatreworks, the resident theatre company of the College, were proud to welcome Borough President Marty Markowitz to the Haunted Hotel, a high-tech haunted house that showcases the superb talents of City Tech students. Markowitz visited the spooky construction in the Voorhees Theater on Halloween afternoon, a few hours before the streets of Brooklyn were filled with young witches, warlocks, Power Rangers and effigies of Barney.

This year's Haunted Hotel was the fifth for the Department of Entertainment Technology and Theatreworks. It is an opportunity to entertain the community and to display the skills of our students in performance, lighting, sound, video and show control of themed events. The Haunted Hotel was visited by about 900 students, faculty, staff and others, including a growing number of high school students and children from the surrounding community.

What was Borough President Markowitz's reaction after seeing a dismembered hand turning a faucet, a talking skeleton at the mast of a pirate ship and an oil painting that made faces at him? "This was great! It is yet another example of the innovation that has earned New York City College of Technology a national reputation as a leader in educating students for the high-tech careers of tomorrow."
