City Tech Ranks First in Student Diversity Among All Colleges in Its Category in Study Issued by U.S. News & World Report

New York City College of Technology (City Tech) in Downtown Brooklyn ranks first in the diversity of the students it serves among all "Comprehensive Colleges-Bachelor's (North)" surveyed for America's Best Colleges 2003, a study recently issued by U.S. News & World Report.

"City Tech prides itself on the considerable effort it makes to meet the diverse educational needs of a diverse student body," said President Fred W. Beaufait. "These efforts include taking into account the different learning styles of students from different cultures in our development of curricula and delivery of instruction."

The U.S. News study was based on enrollment data for academic year 2001/2002. The percentages of minorities used in determining the ranking of the colleges surveyed reflect the proportion of minorities in the undergraduate student body that excludes international students.

"Comprehensive Colleges-Bachelor's" are those that focus on undergraduate education but grant fewer than 50 percent of their degrees in liberal arts disciplines. This category includes institutions where at least 10 percent of the undergraduate degrees awarded are bachelor's.
