City Tech Students, Faculty and Staff Again to Help Brighten Holidays for Brooklyn Homeless
On December 23, students, faculty and staff of City Tech's culinary and pastry arts programs, together with other College volunteers, again will help brighten the holidays for up to 1,000 Brooklyn homeless people. The festive holiday meal is provided in collaboration with Brooklyn's Christian Help in Park Slope Shelter.
This is the 16th year the College has helped provide, prepare and serve the legendary shelter's annual holiday meal through food, cash and other contributions provided by members of the College community, regional food purveyors and other friends of City Tech. These contributions also help provide staples to stock the shelter's pantry and to supply baby food and other infant care products to homeless mothers with infant children. Since 1999, Lois Beaufait, wife of City Tech President Fred Beaufait, has served as honorary chair of the CHIPS Holiday Meal Project.
Those wishing to contribute to the project are invited to call Hospitality Management Professor Frank Costantino, CHIPS project coordinator, at 718.260.5646.
