A Big City Tech-Style Welcome to New Students
More than six hundred new students received a warm introduction to campus life at City Tech on August 28 at a day designed especially for them. It began with welcomes from President Fred Beaufait, Provost Joann La Perla, Dean of Students and Academic Services Lenore Gall, Director of Student Life and Development Daniel Fictum and Student Government Association President Louis Smeby.
Valuable tips on getting the most out of the college experience were provided in a presentation on "How To Be Successful in College." The interactive presentation, which had the students actively engaged with one another as well as taking notes, was a big hit.
The new students then spent time meeting with students and faculty members from their departments, and taking tours of the campus. The day ended on a fun note with an ice cream social, information fair and door prize raffle. The lucky students whose numbers were called out by President Beaufait went home with City Tech t-shirts, sweatshirts and a $50 gift certificate to the bookstore.
