Auction on December 5 Expected to Attract Eager Bidders
The best deal in town on Thursday evening, December 5, will be the City Tech Foundation's (CTF) 8th Annual Live & Silent Auction, with City Tech alumnus and Visiting Distinguished Professor Michael Lomonaco making his guest auctioneer debut.
For the $20 admission fee, participants will vie for trips, jewelry and dining experiences at top New York City restaurants, and enjoy live entertainment and a gourmet buffet supper prepared by students and faculty from the College's culinary and pastry arts programs. The action takes place in the Janet Lefler Dining Room.
Best of all, proceeds from the evening, which
starts at 6 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m., will benefit City Tech's student
financial assistance and faculty professional development programs.
The student financial assistance program provides funds to enable
students with financial need to stay in college, while the faculty
professional development program offers workshops and seminars to
allow instructors to further hone their teaching skills.
A six-day, five-night vacation for two at Sunset Beach Resort &
Spa in Montego Bay; overnight accommodations at the Waldorf=Astoria,
followed by dinner for two at Noche Restaurant and theater tickets
to a Broadway show; tickets to the NJ Nets vs. Utah Jazz basketball
game on March 2; and a signed and numbered lithograph by award-winning
artist Marian Howard (recently featured in Décor magazine)
are just a few of the many items that will create a bidding buzz
at this year's auction. And for those on smaller budgets, there's
the silent auction with bids starting as low as $20 on many items.
Lomonaco, the former chef/director of Windows on the World, is now chef/director of Noche, a new Latin theme restaurant and nightclub in Manhattan's Theatre District. An accomplished public speaker, he has attracted a national television following, first as host of "Michael's Place" on the Food network and now as co-host of "Epicurious" on The Discovery Channel.
For tickets to the auction or information on absentee bidding, call Jewel Trowers Escobar, CTF's executive director, at 718.260.5025.
