Shortly after September 11, then-Mayor Rudy Giuliani asked BBDO, one of the world's largest and most successful advertising agencies, to help rekindle the spirit of New Yorkers. The result was "The New York Miracle," an extensive television ad campaign that gave us a laugh when we needed it most.

Thanks to the assistance provided by BBDO Executive Vice President Roy Elvove, two members of the talented BBDO team that created this remarkable series of ads, were on campus on March 13 to discuss their work with City Tech advertising and communication design students, faculty and other guests. David Johnson and John Leu described the theory underlying their work and how the campaign was produced in a fraction of the time it typically takes to mount such a major effort. "The New York Miracle" represents some of the most successful advertising in recent memory by two outstanding professionals who didn't blink when the pressure was on.

The Department of Advertising Design & Graphic Arts sponsored the presentation. Professor John McVicker moderated the event.
