City Tech's Hospitality Management Industry Awards Presented to Chef Daniel Boulud and Alumna Elizabeth Rodriguez

City Tech's Department of Hospitality Management honored Chef Daniel Boulud and department alum Elizabeth Rodriguez with Industry Awards at the annual BTech celebration in May. Additional awards were given to outstanding students in the department, including Belinda Leung who earned the Janet Lefler Academic Achievement Award for the student who has maintained the highest grade point average in the department.

Daniel Boulud is chef-owner of several award-winning restaurants and is considered one of America's leading culinary authorities. Boulud's culinary accolades include James Beard Foundation awards for "Outstanding Chef," "Outstanding Restaurateur," "Best Chef, New York City," and "Outstanding Chef of the Year." Restaurant DANIEL has been cited as "one of the ten best restaurants in the world" by the International Herald Tribune, has earned three Michelin stars and Wine Spectator's "Grand Award." Boulud was named "Chef of the Year" by the Culinary Institute of America and Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur by the French government.

Chef Boulud also played a key role in Elizabeth Rodriguez's hospitality career. After graduating from City Tech, Rodriguez was hired as the receptionist at Restaurant DANIEL. From there she went to Boulud's catering division, Feast & Fetes, to human resources. Rodriguez is currently the human resources manager at Dinex Group, Boulud's restaurant management company, and focuses on recruitment efforts at leading culinary schools all across the country.
