Professor’s Guide to Developing a Proactive Defense Against Today’s Economic Challenges Now Available in City Tech Bookstore
The response to Hospitality Management Assistant Professor Patrick O’Halloran’s 2009/2010 presentation on reducing or eliminating credit card debt and related money matters was so positive that he has produced a 24-page booklet on a variety of financial topics that run the gamut from facts about credit card debt and how your credit history matters when you’re applying for a job to tips for first-time homebuyers and where an unemployed person should look for work in these troubled times. The guide also examines new regulations governing overdraft coverage on ATM and debit card transactions, the potential benefits of credit unions and making the right moves when starting a small business.
“My goal,” says Professor O’Halloran, “is to lay a solid foundation for sensible financial and educational strategies so that students and other readers can develop a proactive defense in light of today’s economic challenges. All materials included in the booklet have been published in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle and Irish Examiner newspapers.
The booklet is available for purchase in the City Tech Bookstore and is priced at $1.50. All proceeds from sales will go to provide scholarships through the City Tech Foundation’s General Scholarship Fund. Professor O’Halloran plans to update and expand the booklet twice a year to include the latest information potentially helpful to readers in managing their finances.
