Self-Study Design

II. NATURE AND SCOPE OF THE SELF-STUDY IV. ORGANIZATION OF THE SELF-STUDY COMMITTEE

III. INTENDED OUTCOMES OF THE SELF-STUDY

Since moving from community college status to comprehensive college status in 1980, the College has undergone a long and complex transition, one that is by no means ended. Recent changes in the leadership of the College and a major influx of new faculty, with more to come, as well as promising initiatives in several program areas, make this a critical time to develop a unified understanding of the College’s mission and to reaffirm and reinforce a commitment to the institution and its students.

Goals for the Self-Study:

  • Develop a common understanding of the college’s mission and a commitment to fulfilling it.
  • Engage all stakeholders in assessing the current state and direction of the College in meeting its mission.
  • Put into place a process of planning, consistent with the University Master Plan, that is probing, creative, efficient, and transparent.
  • Produce a self-study document that describes clearly and insightfully the strengths and resources of the college and its progress towards meeting its goals and that identifies areas of challenge and strategies for addressing them.
