POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES




New York City College of Technology of the City University of New York is accepting applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Design Technology. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in manufacturing processes, Computer Numerical Controlled Machines (CNC), Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM), Finite Element Analysis (FEA), perform research, develop new courses, and engage in service activities. Our curriculum incorporates applications of CAD/CAM, CNC, simulation/animation, advanced manufacturing processes, plastics, materials and measurement and instrumentation.
Located in downtown Brooklyn, New York City College of Technology is a unique institution, offering both Associate and Baccalaureate degrees. The School of Technology and Design includes both engineering technology and integrated media programs, providing a rich environment for collaboration among departments, pooling resources, talents and learning opportunities. The Mechanical Engineering Technology department has 5 full time faculty members and 11 part time faculty and offers two Associate in Applied Science degrees (AAS), in Mechanical Engineering Technology and in Industrial Design Technology. The department is developing a baccalaureate degree in Industrial Design Technology.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS



The position requires a Master's degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology (or closely related field) plus a PE license. A PhD is preferred. The department is seeking an innovative practitioner who can help lead the development of our new Industrial Design program with a strong orientation in simulation and modeling. Prior teaching or professional experience in mechanical and manufacturing engineering technology is an asset. Proficiency with CAD, CAD/CAM, and Finite Element methods software is essential. Skill with data-driven animation (for example in Maya) is a plus. The Mechanical Engineering Technology Department is TAC/ABET accredited. More information on the department website:
