POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES
|
The Department of Electrical and Telecommunications Engineering Technology of New York City College of Technology (City Tech) seeks candidates for two full time tenure-track faculty positions at the assistant professor level. The department’s associate degree programs in electrical engineering technology and telecommunications engineering technology prepare graduates for careers as electronic technicians and telecommunications technicians; baccalaureate programs in telecommunications engineering technology prepare graduates for careers as telecommunications technologists. The BTech program in telecommunications engineering technology builds upon the skills learned in the first two years and adds more advanced study in data communications, coding, computer systems, and satellite and fiber optic communications among a number of other emerging telecom technologies. The department is made up of highly qualified faculty, some well recognized internationally. The employers of graduates include Citicorp, Lehman Brothers, MTA, and Verizon, among others. We are looking for two areas of specialization: in electrical engineering technology, to address rapid advances in electronics and contribute to the development of a BTech program; and in telecommunications engineering technology to address the rapid advances in IP-based systems and their relationship to optical and wireless networks. The department is seeking professionals, who are dedicated to teaching, curriculum development, and student advisement; who can assist us to continue to upgrade and further develop our laboratories; and who are prepared to conduct scholarly work that will contribute to further development of our programs. Faculty members in the department teach a wide spectrum of courses, from basic electrical and electronic concepts to modern telecommunications, including support for emerging applications.
