POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES | ||
The Department of Computer Systems Technology (CST) of New York City College of Technology, City University of New York, is engaged in the development of innovative associate and baccalaureate curricula to educate students in emerging information technologies and their application to business, science, the arts and other human endeavors. The CST department is one of the largest and most dynamic in the College, offering AAS and BTech degrees in multiple areas of concentration. We are one bridge away from Wall Street, a global center of information systems. The Department of Computer Systems Technology is part of the School of Technology and Design, which provides a unique environment of interdisciplinary research and learning. For a tenure track Assistant Professor position, the department seeks an innovative technologist having both a solid theoretical background and technical expertise in the following area of specialization: • Computer Graphics, Modeling and Visualization This position is applications-focused regarding the impact of computer graphics on scientific and information visualization, including simulations, computational modeling, high performance computing and immersive and distributed environments. The candidate’s duties include teaching, student advisement, curriculum development, and participation in other department and college-wide activities. This is an interdisciplinary position. The candidate will be regularly assigned to engage in interdisciplinary teaching, curriculum development, and research with other departments of the School of Technology and Design permeated by Computer Graphics technologies. | ||

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS | ||
|
A Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or related field is required. Postgraduate experience in an academic or industry setting is essential. Related experience on application of information technologies to business, science and the arts are assets. University-level teaching experience is advantageous and will be a major expectation of the position. The successful candidate will be articulate and offer insight regarding emerging information systems and their global impacts. | ||
