POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES | ||
The Department of Social Science of New York City College of Technology (City Tech), The City University of New York, seeks to hire a tenure-track assistant professor of political science to begin in fall 2008. City Tech, one of the most ethnically and culturally diverse colleges in the nation, is an urban campus in the heart of downtown Brooklyn. We are a comprehensive college of over 13,000 students that awards associate and baccalaureate degrees from programs in the Schools of Arts and Sciences, Professional Studies, and Technology and Design. The department’s course offerings fulfill the college’s general education requirements and include American Government, State & Local Government, and Constitutional Law. The department is dedicated to promoting student success and encourages its faculty to become involved in innovative educational approaches such as learning communities and writing intensive courses. Faculty members work collaboratively with other departments at the college to sponsor exciting and enriching programs such as Constitution Day. The successful candidate will be able to teach U.S. Constitutional Law and American Government. Additionally, the ability to teach State and Local Government is strongly desired. The responsibilities of this position include teaching, academic advisement, committee and departmental assignments, curriculum development, and scholarly work leading to publications and presentations. | ||

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS | ||
The successful applicant must have a Ph.D. in political science or government in hand by the beginning of the fall 2008 semester. Applicants must possess experience in teaching at the college level, and should demonstrate evidence of scholarly potential. Candidates should be dedicated to teaching students from varied backgrounds and learning styles. In keeping with this mission, our ideal candidate would be able to link U.S. Constitutional Law to the interests and needs of our student body. | ||
