POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES | ||
The Architectural Technology Department seeks full time faculty members to join our growing program, the only one of its kind in the CUNY system. The curriculum prepares the student in design, working drawings and in construction aspects of a building project. The first two years of our curriculum includes a series of design courses, site planning, materials, history, structures, office practice, and CADD based courses. The Bachelor of Technology degree has an emphasis on restoration and renovation of existing buildings and utilizes New York City as a living laboratory. Our full time faculty is made up of registered architects who are active in the field. Our graduates are in high demand and our faculty and students have received recognition for their work from various professional organizations. The Department of Architectural Technology of New York city College of Technology (City Tech) invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor position to teach in the Bachelor of Technology degree programs. Responsible for teaching a range of architectural courses, conducting academic advisement and registration, developing curricula and conducting appropriate research or artistic work. Committee and departmental participation is required, as well as professional development activities. | ||

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS | ||
The candidate must have a Master’s degree and architectural registration in New York State. Prior college level architectural teaching experience is preferred, with demonstration of excellent communication and classroom skills. At least five years architectural office experience in a responsible position is a must, as well as expertise in two and three-dimensional CADD. Candidates should have the ability to teach across the following range of subject matter with mastery in three of the following areas: construction documents, materials in architecture, architectural history, design, site planning, model making and graphics, office practice, structural design, computer animation, architectural software, space planning, urban design, or theory. Experience in curriculum development, instructional technology and innovative pedagogy is desirable. | ||
