- Murray H. Block (Acting)
- 1960, 1962-1965
Dr. Murray H. Block resumed his duties as dean of the college, or second in charge, following a brief stint as acting president of the College during the four-month period in 1960 between the Klitgord and Jarvie administrations. In 1962, following the departure of President Jarvie, he again took charge of the College as acting president.
In that capacity, Block, who had joined the original institute in 1947 as a typist in the Bursar’s Office, oversaw the development of the divisional organizational structure of the academic departments, a significant expansion in curriculum, the beginnings of a liberal arts program, and the move of New York City Community College into The City University of New York system. Block served as acting president for more than three years until his appointment as president of the Borough of Manhattan Community College in 1965. He later served as a deputy to the chancellor of the State University of New York.
