Judge Rubin received the Kitty Cox Volunteer Award for her “distinguished service to the people of Brooklyn,” which includes more than a quarter century on the board of the Brooklyn Red Cross and a similar length of time as a board member of the New York City College of Technology Foundation. “The Foundation provides scholarship assistance to outstanding students,” says Judge Rubin, “and I am happy to participate in its humanitarian work. At this time, I am pleased to be serving as secretary of the board.”

Judge Rubin’s affiliation with City Tech has been not only of long duration, but also quite diverse. For a number of years, she was an adjunct professor in the Departments of Law & Paralegal Studies and Social Science. “City Tech is an important institution in our borough,” she explains, “and was well represented at the awards ceremony. President Russell K. Hotzler was also honored in recognition of City Tech’s leadership in raising funds to help victims of Hurricane Katrina and other disasters.”

Other honorees included Elizabeth Lindenmayer, a former United Nations Assistant Secretary General, who spent three decades actively involved in a variety of relief efforts, and Mildred Onken, a longtime supporter of the American Red Cross.
